Variants with the length code -1 represent price per meter – practical for cutting to size, service vehicles and individual requirements.

Choosing the right compressed air hose

Four details are usually enough to narrow down the right variant. You'll find all four directly in the part number and on the datasheet.

Inside diameter and part number

Inside diameter determines flow rate
It determines how much air arrives at what pressure loss. Too small, and pressure drops at the tool; too large, and the hose becomes unnecessarily heavy and stiff.
Rule of thumb for practice
Small tool connection (6.3–9 mm), medium workstation line (10–16 mm), large distribution line (19–38 mm). The manufacturer's specification for the compressed air consumer is always binding.
Reading the part number
Using the example CA-19/12.7-BK-0050-YA: CA = series, 19/12.7 = outside/inside diameter in mm, BK = colour code, 0050 = coil length in meters; -1 stands for the running meter.
Comparing across series
This scheme runs through the series CA, PV, PV05, PV07-S and the PVC series PV08, PV10 and PV13 – so sizes can be compared directly.

Hose clamp by clamping range
The clamp is selected based on the hose outer diameter: 2-ear hose clamps of series 157 (157A to 157T) as well as clamps of series HC01 and HC02.
Coupling according to ISO 7241-1 series B
Coupling plugs and coupling sockets according to ISO 7241-1 series B are available in several nominal sizes and material versions.
Hose burst protection series HB01
It limits airflow if the hose is damaged or ruptures. Sizing is based on nominal size and flow range; the -LF and -HF versions differ in this respect.

Where fabric-reinforced air hoses are used

From the tool connection at the workbench to the distribution line in the workshop – the size follows air demand and line length.

Compressed air tools at the workbench

Impact wrenches, drills, chisel hammers and blow guns are supplied via short, flexible connection lines. Common are 6.3 to 9 mm inner diameters, such as CA-11/6.3-BK-1-YA or PV05-14.5/9-BU-1.

Distribution and supply lines in the workshop

From the compressor via the service unit to the outlet point, the cross-section increases with line length and air demand. For these runs, sizes from 12.7 mm are suitable, such as CA-23/16-BK-0050-YA or PV-34/25-NA-0050 as coiled hose.

Maintenance and mobile use

On the service cart or at changing outlet points, quick assembly matters: cut the hose to length, insert the nozzle, secure it with a 2-ear hose clamp from series 157. Cut-to-length stock with the -1 designation is the practical choice for this.

Workplaces with Elevated Safety Requirements

Where hoses are routed overhead or run close to personnel, a hose burst protection valve from series HB01 belongs in the line. It limits airflow in the event of damage or breakage; the -LF and -HF versions differ in flow range.

Visual Inspection and Line Identification

PVC braided hoses in the PV08, PV10, and PV13 series are a practical choice where a transparent or color-coded hose makes it easier to distinguish between multiple media lines at the workstation. Media compatibility is specified in the respective datasheet.

Air consumption of the tool and line length determine the inside diameter. The range covers 4 to 38 mm – the manufacturer's specification for the compressed air tool remains binding.

What does "fabric-reinforced" mean for a compressed air hose?

Between the inner core and outer sheath lies an embedded textile braid that absorbs the forces resulting from operating pressure. It prevents the hose from expanding and increases dimensional stability compared to unreinforced hoses. That's why fabric-braided hoses are the standard for compressed air lines at tools and workstations.

Which inner diameter is the right one?

The key factors are the air demand of the connected tool and the line length: for hand tools, 6.3 to 9 mm is common, for workstation and supply lines 10 to 16 mm, for distribution lines 19 mm and above. The range covers 4 to 38 mm inner diameter – including sought-after intermediate sizes such as 13, 16 or 20 mm.

Are the compressed air hoses available by the meter?

Yes. Many sizes are available both as running meter (length code -1) and as a coil (e.g. -0025 or -0050). Which packaging options are offered for a specific size can be seen on the respective product variant.

What are the differences between the CA, PV, PV05 and PV07-S series?
